The Agenda: Canopy Co-Working, WestEdge Design Fair, and Natasha Baradaran

Opening

Canopy

Co-working spaces are a dime a dozen these days, but when internationally acclaimed designer Yves Behar teamed up with Amir Mortazavi and Steve Mohebi to create a co-working space, a lot of heads turned. Rather than beer taps and ping-pong tables, Canopy provides a striking workspace with both shared desks and private offices. Heath Ceramics tiles line the back wall, Herman Miller office furnishings (including Sayl chairs and Public Office Landscape desk systems designed by Yves Behar himself), Flos lighting, and classics from Joe Colombo, Alexander Girard, Stilnuovo, and Don Chadwick. Amenities include cold pressed juice on a Juicero Press (designed by Yves Behar), Sight Glass Coffee, and Sodastream sparkling tap water (in which Behar also had a hand). It’s by far the most stylish office in Pacific Heights.

WestEdge

Highlights include the MADE: MODERN showcase, sponsored by Design Milk, which features independent designers and makers of handcrafted, limited-edition furnishings. And don’t forget to take advantage of both indoor and outdoor lounges, the former with a sculptural installation by L.A. designer Matt Gagnon and the latter tricked out by Roche Bobois.

Curva Collection by Natasha Baradaran

Fall/Winter Collection

Natasha Baradaran

This month, L.A.-based interior designer Natasha Baradaran reveals her second collection at showrooms across the U.S. Named Curva, the 13-piece collection was inspired by the Italian phrase "Dolce Far Niente,” which translates to “the sweetness of doing nothing and the sheer indulgence of enjoying the moment.” Think of it as SoCal comfort meets Italian style in the form of brass and goatskin finishes and plush upholstery. And it’s available for the first time ever to the San Francisco market at De Sousa Hughes.

When: November 2016

Where: De Sousa Hughes, 2 Henry Adams St., #220, San Francisco

Refresh

Lido Marina Village

Set right on Newport Harbor, Lido Marina Village always had stunning outdoor vistas. But now, a fresh set of shops is making the interiors look just as good. SoCal designer Jenni Kayne’s eponymous boutique is filled with sheer lace silhouettes from her fall collection, Sausalito-based lifestyle brand Serena & Lily unveils its fifth design shop, and Nobu will unveil a two-story, indoor-outdoor restaurant with elliptical skylight and cruise-ship-inspired grand staircase this winter.

West Coast Craft

Bay Area artisanal enthusiasts have their pick of handcrafted wares by local makers at the annual West Coast Craft Fair. This year, look out for East Bay woodworker Aleksandra Zee’s new collection of white- and walnut-hued redwood panels, works of art perfect for any wall. The designer will also debut a hand-block-printed textile collection of linen pillows and throws in a moody, San Francisco-appropriate color palette.
