Open House Obsession: '80s Post-Modernism Brought Back to Life in Hollywood Hills, $1.7M

Where: 2746 Jalmia Drive, Hollywood Hills
When: Sunday, January 28 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm
How Much: $1.697M
What: This 2-bed, 2.5-bath Post-Modern from 1987 steps down the slope of the canyon with three levels, its delicate interior full of light and framed views of the surrounding hills. Constructed from steel trusses and I-beams inside an "industrial" shell of stucco and aluminium, the house was completely refreshed in the past year.

We don't know who the original architect was, but the house survives as a lovely example of the best of Post Modernism and High Tech (when "tech" meant  "industrial" long before the Internet.) We especially like how the open interior connects to the multiple outdoor spaces. Below, the main living area:

One of the two master suites has this spectacular shower:

There's no actual landscaping except for this 30-year-old bougainvillea shading a deck off the living room:

What We Love: Assembled with industrial elements from a catalogue, the house's exposed structure reads like a drawing.
More: Check out the listing's dedicated site by one of our favorite LA photographers, Charmaine David. Below, an aerial view makes it easier to "read" the structure.

These days, the decks are much less cluttered:
