More than 30 years ago, Claude Rouas brought the magical light of the South of France to Auberge du Soleil with his design of the 50 rustic hillside maisons. Those original rooms and suites evoked the rustic charm of the Provence countryside with earth-toned colors and traditional shuttered French doors opening to private patios.
In a multi-year transformation of the maisons, Suzanne Tucker of Tucker & Marks reinterpreted Rouas’ vision for the “Inn of the Sun” with the effortless style and sophistication of the French Riviera. Her vision was inspired by the casual luxury and sensuousness of Cote d’Azur living.
The redesigned Maison Vence and Maison Mougins capture the generous light and spaciousness of a private villa with pale sand and limestone hues, while the bleached and cerused floors set the stage for the newly opened layout in suites up to 1,300 square feet.
